Dear Ladies and Gentlemen
The Shalom Family Campaign for Social Justice
'Power Strength Humility Inside Outside Corporate Enterprise'
With reference to the above, and our previous representations to your good self, your department or your organisation, we feel sure that you must now be very aware that some four years have passed since our Family was first deprived of our own, decent, safe and satisfactory Family Houseboat Home. Likewise, it’s been more than three and a half years since we have been deprived of our lifetime Family possessions.
We could perhaps offer you a thousand ‘reasons’ why we feel it necessary to continue with our Family Campaign for Social Justice. There are at least five, young children, who we know would like to see a satisfactory end to this situation. We could perhaps offer much ‘reason’ as to why we believe that you, and/or, your organisation, is in some small, or large way, morally responsible, (at the very least) in helping us to seek, or to find, a way forward.
Despite our weariness and overall general exhaustion we continue our search for something that perhaps would bring this very sad, and at times, traumatic Family experience, to a complete and satisfactory conclusion. The only reason that we continue is because it is ‘right’ that we should.
Our Family has witnessed, first hand, the negative brutal power, strength and force of corporate enterprise and the somewhat total indifference, and/or acquiescence, of elected representatives. We cannot help but wonder, what is this, when compared to ‘ultimate truths’ about our shared human existence, about our shared human values, of knowing the truth, and ‘right’ from ‘wrong’?
Our ‘dispossessed’ Family approaches this Christmas in much the same way as we have approached the last four. We hope and sometimes pray that somebody somewhere will have the courage, strength and power of conviction, to help us successfully conclude our Family Campaign for Social Justice. We fear that we will not find anybody at all. It has indeed come to pass that the ‘Law’, and the due processes of its execution, ‘decided’ the ‘legal’ arguments and the outcome for our eviction. There is no doubt that Crest Nicholson ‘had their day in Court’ and ‘won’.
However, in light of the overwhelming evidence which we have respectfully tried to bring to your attention, of the whole circumstances which generated legal action, and in which the final decision was entered into, or arrived at - in Court, it is impossible for our Family to conceive, that true-justice was even slightly served. It is painfully clear for all to see, that whilst the ‘juridic norm’ may well have been served publicly, (and much to our Family’s humiliation) so also was the ‘moral norm’, undoubtedly undermined, ignored, and/or overlooked.
We believe that the concept of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ is fundamentally created from, and an expression of, the moral norm. We believe that our Family Campaign for Social Justice is worthy, suitably appropriate for further consideration, under the principles to be found driving Corporate Social Responsibility.
Naturally, ‘moral truths’ exist for everyone. We accept that at times, ‘on the journey’ so to speak, of our own private individual, corporate and/or public lives, such truths will appear variable, ‘each to his/her own’, sometimes at odds with each other. More often than not, this is largely due to circumstances, time and place. Nonetheless, we believe that everybody has a human right to observe and adhere to them, whether within their own Family or Home-setting, their community, or workplace. We believe that this does not exclude individuals who make up, or take part in, the activities of corporate enterprise, state appointments, or positions of respect, and/or, authority in Government.
This Christmas and Christmastide, we respectfully ask you again. Please examine the evidence. Please speak up, speak out, stand up and act for what you know is truly right. Please support our Family Campaign for Social Justice. The only true ‘reason’ that we can offer you, for you to do this, is because we sincerely believe that it is ‘right’ that you should.
With our warmest and best wishes for a Peaceful, Happy and where appropriate, Holy Christmas.
Kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
Marie Louise and Vince Shalom
