Protest at the Hilton Cardiff
Business In The Community Breakfast Gig
22nd March 2006
"Whether you are a small business, or a large corporate entity your impact on the local community should never be underestimated. The difficulty is measuring it." (BITC 2006)
NOT SO DIFFICULT TO MEASURE FOR THE SHALOM HOUSEBOAT FAMILY!
The above quote is the message from 'Business in The Community', (BITC) an organisation with HRH Prince Charles, as its President. It claims to actively promote and encourage, 'Corporate Social Responsibility' (CSR) and Responsible Business Practice, (RBP) within its membership.
Having already tried to enlist the support of BITC, who appear to sympathise with the Shalom Family Campaign for Social Justice, Vince Shalom dropped in at The Cardiff Hilton today, where BITC were organising a 'Business Breakfast', running the theme of 'Community Impact'.
There is no doubt in our minds that BITC, and their current listed members - HBOS, (Bank of Scotland and Halifax), Legal and General Group Plc, and Lloyds TSB Group Plc, (known associates of Crest Nicholson Plc) are now, better informed of the total and devastating impact of Crest Nicholson's immoral action, which has put a decent Family Home of 14 years, and presently, the Family's personal private possessions, beyond use. More than two and half years of utter corporate madness!
We hope that Business in The Community will support the Shalom Family's last years', Good Friday Appeal to Board Directors of Crest Nicholson. We hope that they can be instrumental in encouraging Crest Nicholson and their associations, to do the 'right thing' and find a Fair and Just solution to this bizarre situation.
Today's picket protest was respectfully received by Mr. Jon - Paul Reed, Operations Manager for Cardiff Hilton and Vince presented a letter to BITC 'breakfast organisers', addressed to Ann Williams, BITC Wales. A copy of which is reproduced below.

Dear Ms. Wiliams, BITC Wales

BITC Cardiff Business Breakfast ‘Community Impact’
The Hilton, Cardiff Today
With reference to the above and our ongoing enquiries with BITC head office, may we kindly take this extra opportunity of inviting you to become more fully aware of the true ‘community impact’ of Family life, for us and especially our five daughters. Being made ‘homeless’ in the way that we have been and losing possession of almost everything we have ever worked for, is not funny!
Please visit the following website at http://www.mvpicton.co.uk where you may learn of our case in more detail.
Finally, if you have any queries or concerns please contact us at any time. We would hope that ‘BITC Cymru’ may take a vital and constructive lead in challenging its published directory members, and all those who hold an interest with Crest Nicholson Plc. After all is said and done, ‘Responsible Business Practice’ and Corporate Social Responsibility, should be clear for all to see.
Kind regards,
Vince & Marie Shalom
