Dear Governors, Teachers, Parents & Guardians,

An ‘Open’ Appeal for URGENT Help

The Shalom Family Campaign for Social Justice

‘Social Justice’ Teaching and Learning by Example

With reference to the above, on behalf of our 5 daughters we write to make this urgent, ‘open’ appeal for your help. We kindly request your best possible attention and consideration. Please note that where appropriate, internet website links are used for your convenience.

We kindly refer to Forest School’s website at http://www.forest.org.uk/page.aspx?id=1424 where we understand that a Mr. John Matthews is listed as, ‘Chair of Governors’, and acknowledged as Chairman of Crest Nicholson Plc.

As parents ourselves, it is clear to see that Forest School has every reason to be ‘proud’ of its academic achievement. We acknowledge Forest School’s listing in the ‘Good School Guide’ at http://www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/?DIRECT&DNUM=1793997, “Exam results are good – 75 per cent A/B grades at A level, 65 per cent A*/A grades at GCSE.

Among other matters, not least of which is the School’s foundation in Christianity, we note the school has an “anti-bullying policy”, and we respectfully acknowledge and commend the School upon its stated 'Aims and Values' at http://www.forest.org.uk/page.aspx?id=1374. Our attention is particularly drawn to the comments, “competitiveness and co-operation, edge and heart". We also applaud the School in its declaration of what the school expects from its pupils:-

• "to feel secure, valued and encouraged to learn and succeed; and to realise that there are multiple pathways to success";

• "to recognise intelligently the opinions and beliefs of others"

We acknowledge from the ‘News Archives’ at http://www.forest.org.uk/page.aspx?id=1713 that:

“On Thursday 15th December the former leader of the Conservative Party and local MP, Ian Duncan-Smith, visited Forest School to address an appreciative audience of 6th formers. He talked about his career in politics and his new brand of 'compassionate conservatism' which involves getting the Conservative Party involved in social justice issues such as homelessness. Mr Duncan-Smith answered a range of probing questions from Sixth formers about his views on Tony Blair and the new leader of the Conservatives, David Cameron. He also took the opportunity to criticise Labour's reforms of the NHS. Mr Duncan-Smith joined 6th formers for lunch afterwards and four Government and Politics students, Hayley Moore, Thomas Hawkins, Tomas Ruta and James Dobias, got a chance to discuss political issues with Mr Duncan-Smith in the relaxed setting of the School's Gordon Budd Room.”

Finally, we kindly refer you to the following internet website at http://www.mvpicton.co.uk.

In view of the above, we ask you to make every effort possible to urge Mr. John Matthews, Chair of Governors Forest School, Chair of Crest Nicholson Plc., to listen to the merits of our ‘Family Campaign for Social Justice’ and answer the case, for ‘Social Justice’, in providing only a ‘fair’ and ‘just’ solution.

We regret that we find ourselves so moved to this course of action, and apologise for any inconvenience that it may cause but we believe that you will understand and accept why we do this, in defending our fundamental human right, to ‘Respect’ for Family, Home and Way of Life.

We would be very grateful to hear from you and hope to receive a positive response.

Kind regards,

Marie Louise and Vince Shalom
