Shoddy Home built by Crest Nicholson

This website has been created to give a warning and a word of advice to prospective buyers of Crest Nicholson Homes of our experiences when we purchased our dream home in 2007 to retire in after suffering from a critical illness. All the relevant facts of my illness were known to Crest Nicholson Sales Consultants and despite this they sold us a house that was incomplete and finished to a very poor standard considering the price that they charged for this house. Whilst a lot of the works have now been completed not only are there still outstanding works that remain to be completed but major design faults that Crest Nicholson management have admitted to but have not responded with their remedial suggestions.

Whilst Crest Nicholson would consider these issues to be of minor snagging we would consider the images shown below to indicate that this house was incomplete and not ready for occupation as was suggested to us by the sales consultant. The comment made to us a week before completion was that our house would be ‘all singing and all dancing’ since all the quality control and inspection would be done on our behalf by their senior quality control officer.

We can categorically say that we have not been singing and have never danced since we moved in.

Our advice to all who are considering buying a Crest Nicholson Home.

Please arrange for a surveyor to make a report on your new home before you complete and hand over your funds. They may not allow you to do this but you must insist on this condition which will save you a lot of grief, pain and suffering the likes of which we would not like anyone to suffer.

Whilst we may have been naïve in our trusting the management we did read Mr Stone’s statement on their website which gave us the confidence to be able to trust the management . Incidentally Mr Stone has never been made available to meet us despite several attempts to contact him.

We would like to hear from other members of the public who have suffered similar experiences when purchasing Crest Nicholson Homes around the country.

Update, 11 October 2007:

Water continues to leak into the garage and with radiators also leaking combined with a faulty central heating programmer confirms the ongoing problems with this shoddily built house.

Crest Nicholson continue to refuse to meet us to discuss matters and have not as yet offered any remedial works or solutions.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
