Crest Nicholson Plc is celebrating one of its greatest achievements yet, having today been named as one of the winners of the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise 2007, in the Sustainable Development category.

The Queen's Award for Sustainable Development recognises businesses which have made outstanding advances or have a high level of continuous achievement in the environmental and social impacts of sustainable development.
Crest Nicholson receives the award in honour of its continuous achievement in the delivery of sustainable homes and community regeneration. Only one other housebuilder is believed to have won the award between 2002 and 2006.

Crest Nicholson was commended for its commitment to environmental performance and the measures it has taken, within the last five years, to reduce its ecological footprint by minimising consumption of materials, increasing energy efficiency and reducing waste and carbon dioxide emissions.

The company also received special merit for its community and stakeholder consultation methods and its determination to enhance the sustainability performance of its suppliers by integrating sustainable procurement criteria into tenders.

Stephen Stone, Chief Executive, Crest Nicholson Plc, comments: "This award is testament to our continued emphasis on producing high quality developments that champion the very best in sustainable development and design. With the success of many of our flagship schemes, such as Port Marine in Portishead and Park Central in Birmingham, combined with our recent wave of zero carbon schemes; we continue to raise the bar in creating truly sustainable communities."

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious awards for business performance and are the highest honour that can be bestowed on a UK company.
